Welcome to Troop 1 Oreland


Many improvements have been made to Hawk Mountain Camp.  Some recent achievements include:

  • Installed structural beams and fixed chimneys in Hanks Hall in 2020
  • New zip-line tower in 2019 and parking lot drainage in 2018
  • Constructing a safe target wall for the Rifle Range in 2017
  • Dredged the swimming pond and water feed system in 2016
  • Rebuild the well house foundation and platform and installed new pump in 2016
  • Re-shingled Beaver patrol and replaced serving kitchen with stainless steel table in 2016
  • New Adirondack roofs/ firepits for several patrol sites. Cobra patrol site tent platform
  • Handicapped ramp into Hank’s Hall and updated bedding supports in 2015
  • Memorial to veterans of Troop 1 and Re-roofed and painted latrine
  • Received four (4) NRA Youth Shooting Sports grants from 2016-2020
  • Received Bass Pro Shops/ Cabela’s Outdoor Gear Fund in 2020
  • Fortified footers for water pump platform

Volunteers from Troop 1 and the community regularly give their time and talents to Hawk Mountain Camp through on-going maintenance projects which include:

  • Update to several Nature Trials
  • Weeding the fishing pond
  • Removing invasive plants
  • Reduce pond bank mowing

Even though many projects and improvements have been completed much work still needs to be done.  In addition, new needs will always arise.  The following is a list of specific campsite projects that have been targeted:

  • Planting new trees & native plants
  • Eagle campfire drainage & seating
  • Establish a Plant Nursery
